Redefining Education in the world of Automation

“Technology like art is a soaring exercise of the human imagination” and therefore Digital Transformation is defining new industries, new platforms, customer experiences, business models and here we are heading towards a completely new ecosystem

This new industry is growing so rapidly that the rate of change that we see around has come down to 3 days, what this means is that every 3 days you see evolution of new ideas and implementation. In just 6 months we realize our mobile phone is outdated, we realize new games hit the screens before we understood the current one completely, new gadgets hit the market way before we are depreciating the old one by 25%.

Its a welcome change by the National Education Board where they want the students to be empowered with learning to ADAPT TO CHANGE

Our existing system of 10+2 (class 1 to 10 and thens 11th & 12th) has been changed to 5+3+3+4 === 5 (Nursery Junior Senior Kg & Class 1&2) + 3 (class 3,4,5) + 3 (class 6,7,8) + 4 (Class 9,10,11,12)

In the new system the first 5 years – Foundation Stage is to focus on activity based learning, next 3 years – Preparatory Stage is all about discovery, activity and interactive based learning, next 3 years – Middle Stage is experiential learning with special focus on Science, Mathematics, social sciences and humanities, next 4 years – Secondary Stage includes multidisciplinary  study, greater critical thinking, flexibility and student choice of subjects.

KEY PARADIGM SHIFTS IN THE EDUCATION SYSTEM

  1. The new system is going to discourage herd mentality of scoring to be a doctor or engineer, and switch to conduct entrance exams similar to SATs in the USA.
  2. The objective of the New Policy is to expose and focus 50% of the learners to vocational education
  3. Coding to be a part of mainframe learning and sits at the top of the chart from 6th Grade onwards.
  4. All graduation courses will have major and minor. Example – science students can have Physics as Major and Music as minor also.
  5. THE NEW CYCLE OF LEARNING AND EVALUATION

Subjects – to include Technology, Automation & Digitalization

Teaching Methods – To Focus on Application to bring clarity in Concepts & Definitions, bring a sense of play as that boosts imagination

Evaluation – From report cards & parent teacher meetings to creation & implementation of ideas, connecting across subjects and  concepts & Success Quotient – From 99% results to the number of real Problem Solving ideas to execution by students

This New Education Policy will change our current education culture filled with test results, piles of homework, % race to scoring academics and sports. It will prepare our children to face the changing world, make them future ready for the global market that is soaring with advanced technology usage, with Re-Skilling and Up-Skilling this new Indian youth

Focus will be to reduce the burden of subjects and the quantity, but at the same time increase the depth and quality of learning channelized by the interest of the student.

Encouraging students to raise questions, practice hands-on-learning, facilitate curiosity and creative learning to explore, experiment and most importantly Support Collaborative learning. Innovation is here and now and needs to be implemented with students in many ways to make it their #WorkOfFuture.

My firm belief and what i truly practice is that “Real Knowledge is about practice and proactive hands-on construction by the student and not passive consumption through textbooks and then reproduced on paper.

OMOTEC courses, culture and compassion is aligned to all the philosophies mentioned above.

It thrills me to say that OMOTEC vision 5 years back is now a National Vision, I see OMOTEC like labs open in every school and OMOTEC courses being practiced by every child in the near future.
