Spike Prime

Spike Prime helps students develop critical problem-solving skills through Robotics and block-based Coding. It enables students to dissect intricate tasks into simpler steps, thereby strengthening their logical reasoning and honing their skills in troubleshooting through meticulous code debugging and optimization processes.

One of the foundational projects with Spike involves building a drive base using the kit’s components, such as two medium motors. This process not only teaches students structural balance but also ensures motors are securely attached for efficient operation. Once built, students delve into programming movement patterns like straight line movement, turning, square paths, zigzag patterns, and figure eights using different components and strategies.  These patterns introduce them to sequencing, loops, conditions, and the nuances of drive base movements, laying a robust foundation in robotics and coding.

Moreover, students gain insights into robotics engineering, where they learn about motor and sensor functionalities, basics of mechanical design using LEGO Technic components, and the importance of calibration and precision control in robot movement. This comprehensive approach fosters collaboration and communication skills as students work together to design, build, and program their robots with a medium-motor Drive Base.
